Matteo had a Minecraft themed party. (Luckily my son is into Minecraft as well and was able to help me with what a creeper looks like :). )This vanilla cake was frosted with chocolate buttercream and then a thin layer of vanilla buttercream to make it look like a green creeper. The cake was square of course, since everything is square in Minecraft :).
Colorful Cupcakes
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1858941.jpg)
Blake had a multi-themed birthday party this year, so his mom asked me to make 2 different types of cupcakes- carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and chocolate cake with blue-colored vanilla frosting. They were all topped with white chocolate frogs in bright colors- super fun!
Communion Blessings
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1400812767.jpg)
This cake was almost identical to a cake I made last year for a first communion- that's because it was for his brother :)-. The mom liked the cake she ordered for her son last year, so she ordered the same thing for her other son this year! A classic- vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.
Fore!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/6308989.jpg)
Greg is an avid golfer, so for his 50th birthday his wife wanted a cake that showcased that. The cake was one layer chocolate and one layer vanilla- between the layers was chocolate buttercream and the entire cake was frosted in vanilla buttercream. The golfball was a vanilla cake covered in vanilla fondant. I tried to make the writing (his name & age) look the writing on a Titleist golfball :).
Teacher Appreciation Day
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1398995220.png)
Carrot cake cupcakes have become my children's favorite flavor this year, so when I asked what kind of cupcakes to make for teacher appreciation day, carrot cake won hands down :). These are nut free and are frosted with cream cheese frosting and decorated with white chocolate carrots. I also made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream decorated with a white chocolate sunflower. I think they'll go quite nicely with the garden theme this year :)
Happy 50th Yankees Fan!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/5848103.jpg)
Although I am an avid Red Sox fan, I agreed to make this Yankees cake to celebrate Mr. Baughn's 50th birthday :). This chocolate cake frosted in chocolate buttercream served 30 and weighed a ton, but I was told it was delicious :)!

The bottom tier has a layer of chocolate cake and a layer of vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream in the center and vanilla buttercream on the outside. Due to friends with allergies, the top tier is an egg free cake frosted in vanilla buttercream. The legs were made of fondant & licorice and the face was made of fondant and candy corns!
The Force is strong in this one...

My son Jackson has been bitten by the Star Wars bug! So, for his fifth birthday he wanted an R2D2 cake to go along with his theme. This cake is 7 layers of yellow cake frosted in white buttercream with a chocolate frosted, chocolate cake dome. The arms are fondant covered rice crispy treats. A yummy sweet for every taste at his party!
M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1312656531.jpg)
It's the Mickey Mouse clubhouse gang wishing Caitlyn a very happy birthday! This cake was so much fun to make--designed after the Disney show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse which is a favorite of the birthday girl :)
Bug-themed Cupcakes!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1312657488.jpg)
Mady's third birthday had a bug & backyard theme, so what better cupcake toppers than butterflies & beetle-bugs. Yes, they look like lady bugs, but I made them yellow instead to appeal to the boy population at the party :) All of the cupcakes were yellow cake & then half were chocolate frosting & half were vanilla- YUM!!
Polka Dots & Flowers !
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1312657109.jpg)
Haley's mom wanted a very girlie cake for her daughter's 1st Birthday. What's more girlie than flowers and polka dots in hot pink & orange? Well, pink cake of course!! That's right the entire cake was dyed hot pink to match the pink frosting!! I love the little smash cake just for Haley too!
A Baby Boy's Christening
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1310499090.jpg)
Tracy wanted a simple design for her son's christening. This sweet design of blue and bows kept the cake simple, but still included little blue crosses to help incorporate the religious importance of the special day.
Under the Sea!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/9547707.jpg?1299186283)
For Sarah's fifth birthday she had an under the sea theme and wanted Ariel on her cake. It was so much fun creating all of the shells and sea shapes for this under the sea creation!
Dinner at Hogwarts!?
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1307560200.jpg)
Matteo is all about Harry Potter this year, so he and his Mom asked me to make him a cauldron cake for his birthday. The cake was half yellow and half chocolate with chocolate frosting; all covered in chocolate fondant and embellished with vanilla fondant.
Soul Surfer
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1329161671.jpg)
Hannah wanted a Soul Surfer themed cake with a black and green color theme (notice the bite out of the surf board on top). This chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting was covered in chocolate and vanilla fondant. The surf boards were extra thick, which gives the illusion of a crooked cake in the picture, but I assure you the cake was level :)
Goal!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296615594.jpg)
This yellow cake with vanilla buttercream frosting was for Kyla, a 9 year old soccer fanatic. Her color theme was lime green & royal blue so we made the decorations on the cake match! The soccer ball was a cake as well with hand-molded hexagons and hand-painted pentagons.
A Very Merry Birthday!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/4551009.jpg?1296617031)
So simple, yet so fun! Hannah had many great ideas about what she wanted for her ninth birthday cake and they combined to create this sweet Alice in Wonderland cake. I loved using the Cheshire Cat colors on the bottom layer and the Mad Hatter's hat displaying a Happy Birthday wish to Hannah topped with Alice herself to make Hanna's theme come to life!
Our Little Lady Turns 1!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296667955.jpg)
We did a ladybug theme for my daughter's first birthday. The entire thing was edible, including the sugar cookie wings. Madison even had her own smash cake in the party's colors too!
Minnie's Pink Polka-dots!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/2221395.jpg?1296615758)
This pretty in pink Minnie Mouse cake was for my daughter's second birthday. She was all about Minnie Mouse and pink so when I found this topper I couldn't resist the alternating polka-dots on the layers!
Baby Girls & Butterflies!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/9941044.jpg?187)
This was a very exciting baby shower for my client's family as it was the first granddaughter! She and her daughter designed this sweet cake for their new little girl.
3,2,1... Blast Off!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296615992.png)
My son's preschool class had a space-themed evening for the parents. They sang songs and dressed up like planets and other space-related things- so cute! So for the "after-party" I decided to make a rocket-ship cake with a picture of the teacher's head in the shuttle door.
A Parrot Head's Paradise
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/2086601.jpg)
This cake was so much fun to make! I felt like I was playing with play-doh as I made all of the little toppers. My brother-in-law loves Jimmy Buffet so for his 40th birthday party I made a cake with some of Jimmy's more well known themes. To please everyone's taste buds, I made a layer of chocolate and a layer of yellow cake with a vanilla buttercream frosting.
On Broadway!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1314626088.jpg)
This by far was the hardest cake I have done! For Connor's 12th birthday, he wanted a Broadway themed cake with the musicals Wicked, Rent, Phantom of the Opera, & Jesus Christ Superstar. I did my best to bring these musicals to life on the cake along with a New York skyline & marquis sign on top.
An Artist's Delight
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296618115.jpg)
Nancy is an amazing painter, so to celebrate her big day I made this painter's palette with her favorite cake flavors- white cake with a raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting- yum!
May the force be with you!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296617662.jpg)
Matteo loves anything Star Wars, so for his sixth birthday we created this R2D2. Nine layers of chocolate cake for the body, a yellow cake for the dome part, and rice crispy treat arms made this a heavy but very yummy cake with something to meet everyone's tastes!
Simple Elegance
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296668416.jpg)
This cake was requested by a client who only needed to serve a small group. The only request on this chocolate buttercream covered chocolate cake was blue flowers, so I added a few pearls to the flowers and some lines and dots to add a little elegance.
Dinosaurs!
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296668884.jpg)
For my son's fourth birthday he wanted dinosaurs! According to him, the cake had to have a volcano and a T-Rex, a Triceratops, and a Brontosaurus. Although this isn't the best picture, the cake was a hit with the kids. When we sang Happy Birthday we put a sparkler in the volcano to add a little pizazz :) The layers were yellow cake with vanilla buttercream and we had a child at the party with egg allergies, so we made the volcano out of our special chocolate cake recipe that has no butter or eggs and covered it with a chocolate shell instead of frosting.
Easter Blessings
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296669373.jpg)
Blue Wedge wood inspired this simple design for an Easter cake.
Truck Crossing
![Picture](/uploads/6/4/0/2/6402024/1296669562.jpg)
This was the first cake I ever made that involved carving and using fondant. I was very proud of this cake when I did it, but now know many tricks to make it look even better! The entire thing, including the rocks were edible!!
